The Natural Revolution
We are a small, family business manufacturing our own skincare products, using the most natural, ethical, and more often than not organic, raw materials as possible. We believe in total transparency about our products and our stylish aluminium bottles are 100% recyclable.
Our ancestors knew about the virtues of aloe vera, lavender and frankincense and now modern consumers have rediscovered the benefits of these natural ingredients, and many more. We also now know that synthetic ingredients are not only unnecessary but are also potentially harmful.
We call this "The Natural Revolution"
As you probably gathered from our name, our products are different from many other brands in that we use the most natural ingredients possible. Obviously, things like cocoa butter and avocado oil are not just sitting in a field conveniently for us to gather up and put in our products, but more often than not the process of extracting ingredients like cocoa butter from the cocoa bean and avocado oil from the fruit requires some kind of process.
The idea is that this process does not involve nasty chemicals and that we stay as true to the natural form of the ingredient as possible. The less processed the better! Another example is our emulsifiers (things that bind oils and water to make our creams) are all derived from plants but also have to go through some kind of process to make them useable. Again, we use raw materials that go through the most natural and the least amount of processing possible.
For the total purists out there, we have a range of 100% natural products which are simply lovely.
The point is that our products are different! You may be using natural products for the first time or you may be an expert already. Either way we hope that you will love using natural products as much as we do.
If you have not used natural products before, your skin/hair may go through a ‘detox’ process. Often with non-natural, highly processed products they treat symptoms and not the cause and so you may have become slightly dependent on the product and need to wean yourself off it!
A good example is commercial anti-dandruff shampoos. Yes they are effective if you use them religiously, but the second you stop, dandruff returns. We encourage you to persevere, after all who really wants to put that chemical filled stuff on their hair every day for years to come...
A lot of the chemicals referred to in our 'nasties' section have been linked to things like cancer, which is a scary thought. Do not despair though, the amounts alone are not enough to cause major alarm, it is the build up over time which is the cause for concern. The sooner you switch to natural the better!
We use 100% natural foaming agents in our shampoo, cleanser, hand wash and body wash. This means that the products are thinner than other non-natural brands. Be careful not to pour too enthusiastically so as not to waste your lovely products. The products do foam up very effectively. With the shampoo, we suggest squirting it straight onto your hair to avoid any wastage. With the cleanser we suggest pouring a small amount into your palm and then lathering it together between your hands and then applying it to the face.
In addition, because our products are natural, they will not necessarily last as long as non-natural products. All our products have best before information on the back labels. To get the most out of your products, store them cool and dark if possible (out of direct light and heat at least) and give them the odd shake to avoid the product settling over time.
All our products are hand made at Natural Revolution head quarters. We only make small amounts at any time (I can only stir a certain volume at any one time!).
We comply with all laws and regulations for running a UK business, manufacturing our own products and the labelling requirements. All our recipes are approved by a consultant chemist and cosmetic safety assessor in accordance with EU regulations. Our products are tested only on willing humans and never, ever on animals.
Natural Eco Preservatives
In recent years the word ‘preservative’ has become a dirty word. We are the first to admit that when we look at food labels we are attracted to ‘no added preservative’ promises.
Having said that, for us to be able to sell our products, they need to have some kind of shelf-life. Obviously natural products will not last as long as unnatural products on their own (and we want them to last longer than fresh food).
Whilst natural vitamin E has preservative qualities, we do not consider that it is enough to rely on that. We therefore use a minimal amount of eco preservative in our products containing water. There is no such thing as a totally natural, completely effective preservative, but this is the closest we can get. There are no parabens or formaldehyde in our preservative.
In addition, our stylish and eco friendly aluminium bottles protect your products from damaging light and help them to last longer.
